How can I find information on private companies?
Answered By: Patrick Griffis Business Librarian Last Updated: May 25, 2022
Unlike public companies, private companies are not required to file with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), so the type of information and the depth of information that can be found in those documents is not necessarily going to be available for private companies.
To search for private company information you can use:
- Privco
- search by company name in the search boxat the top of the page
- Reference USA
- select the US Businesses module on the left side menu where you can search by company name.
You will need your UNLV ACE computer account to access the PrivCo online database and the Reference USA online database remotely from off campus.
